Another resouce from the Pacific Bulb Society
« on: July 24, 2013, 08:56:35 PM »
Our friends in the Pacific Bulb Society had added another great section to their wiki :
A photo resource of lily bulbs

Their web wizard David Pilling (yes, he's a forumist here!) has announced the addition of a
remarkable photo resource of lily bulbs to produce a new page for the wiki, featuring photos of the bulbs of nearly 50 species, which you can
see here: http://www.pacificbulbsociety.org/pbswiki/index.php/LiliumBulbs

Pontus Wallsten (another forumist here ;D ) has contributed his photos of lilium bulbs and these with a number from David Pilling and some from Janos Agoston are a useful tool.
David has devised a cunning two part use of the pictures  : "To see large versions hold down Shift and click on the photo; clicking names or photos (without Shift) will take you to the relevant species page"  - clever eh?  8)

The PBS is a great place for bulb lovers and a great number of members are also members here  but if you are not a member, why not give them some support?  - why not get involved?

Excellent section, duly bookmarked and fascinating to see the characteristics of each individual dormant bulb. A resource like this is invaluable. Well done.

This is an excellent resource indeed.  It finally answered my question of whether a mystery bulb was L. superbum or L. pardalinum.  The seeds germinated in my sand frame from who-knows-where and for a non-botanist, the flowers are hard to tell apart from their descriptions.  But the bulb is definitive.
