    How are your raised beds built? Can you share the plans?

    What type of compost did you use to fill the beds?

    What is the orientation of the beds (north, south facing ....)?

From bottom : spall , seramis + sand + akadama , kanuma + seramis + bark


What type of compost did you use to fill the beds? - Bark , kanuma , akadama , spall, pumice , seramis, sand

What is the orientation of the beds (north, south facing ....)? - south facing

Hakone  - Can you tell me anything about the hardiness of these two Borinda?  I have them both but have not tried them out in the garden yet.  I have more hope for the B. yulongshanensis than macclureana.  The former was collected at very high altitude      - 4200m - at least the Linder form was.

I assume you are in Germany for some reason......

I bought them from Jos van der Palen, http://www.kimmei.com/d.html. The plants are since 7 Years in the garden . I have in winter minus 7 to minus 12 degrees Celsius.

Going down to -12oC would indicate fairly hardy, but how about winter wet?
