Hello again
It's been quite some time since I posted anything here (and to be frank had anything to do with alpines) but now I just want to say that I had a most wonderful time in Nottingham. The whole experience (lectures, pictures, plants, meeting people, the general atmosphere) reminded me of how important alpines are for me.
I want to thank the organisers for making this possible by granting me a student assisted place.
And now some pictures I took:

    drimiopsis davidsoniae.jpg
    androsace vandellii.jpg
    anemonella thalictroides.jpg
    clematis scottii.jpg
    clematis tenuiloba ylva.jpg
    cymbidium goeringii.jpg
    iris sari.jpg
    lamium armenum.jpg

Some lovely photos Razvan, I wasn't there but the pictures bring it to me.  I do like to see the close ups of the plants, those clematis are adorable.  Thanks for posting.

Thank you, Razvan, you show some unusual plants. I particularly like the Lamium armenum. I wonder if it is hardy in the south of England?

And the interesting Drimiopsis, a name quite new to me. It seems to creep about somewhat then send up its flowers? Is there some more imformation somewhere?

that dainty drimiopsis came from kew. it was the one plant that really caught my eye in their display at the conference. seems to be a South African species in the Hyacinthaceae.

If I had the money I would have driven down to meet him

Fermi and Will arrive here tomorrow for a very busy 5 days. The plan was to go to the Burren but it's over 4 hours away and the roads aren't the huge roads that cross Australia

Re the photo I'll fix it later. I'm just up and need a shower and breakfast ::) :o

Fermi and Will take up Michael's offer. When we were over Mark had said to keep to the big roads but we didn't and we never got to see half of what we would have liked,we have small windy roads in Scotland but nothing like Ireland has. Should have listened to a local lad  ::)
It's a wonderful place, so friendly and so much to see. I cant wait till I get back but next time it will be for a couple of weeks.
Hope the weather holds out and you all have a great time.

You know what they say: if you don't see it all this visit, it's just a good reason to come back a second time!
We're enjoying the hospitality of Ian and Maggi and head to Antrim tomorrow!
cheers

The temperature is 11 degrees cooler, 11c, than the hottest day this week, 22c, making it the 'coldest' day time temperature for weeks brrrr

Hello Clavin, any excess baggage yet?  ;) :-X or is there a trail of pacels following you :D

I haven't had any problems with my luggage being overweight yet, it's a matter of my bag being to small to fit everything in and my poor packing skills, which really means shoving everything in the bag just before I have to leave! :)
