Pretty impressive all round, isn't it Cliff? From the speedy delivery to the super attention to details in packing the plants so that they will travel in safety .
It must take an age to do all that packing, but, by jove, it's worth it.... they'll all be in perfect condition inside their little pot houses.

Bremen and Hamburg.(but she might be persuaded to go elsewhere[!])

Giles,

in the northern part of Germany we have a lot of gardeners, but only Jürgen Peters as special alpine gardener.
Friesland-Stauden you mentioned buy the plants he offered in England, Holland etc. and sell them. Not so cheap.

Your friend can send a mail to Mr. Gensch. He lives in Hamburg. Maybe he knew some of this little alpine gardeners around Hamburg.

Hi Darren,
The list included four excellent Androsaces, two anemones (rupicola and polyanthes), three dwarf aquilegias (including A. jonesii), Arenaria ledebouriana, Asyneuma limonifolium, five campanulas (C. raineri, C. aucheri, etc.), two dianthus, Edraianthus pumilio; Gentiana occidentalis; Globularia stygia; three helichrysums; Jasione crispa; Myosotis 'Eyre M'tn'; Petrophytum cinerascens; Phlox nana; Physoplexis comosa; Phyteum confusum; Potentilla speciosa; two primulas; Rhamnus microcarpa; four saxifraga sp.; two silenes; Bolax gummifera and Vitaliana primuliflora ssp. assoana.  Magnificent selection (of Gerd's) at only one Euro each plus p & p.  All in perfect condition (one actually in flower) and packed superbly.  (Included two totally unexpected free bonus plants).
As I say - highly recommended.

Cor! Thats quite a list Cliff. Must investigate further. Thanks for replying in such detail. Can't believe those prices either - some of those are not easy to propagate in quantity.

I got a nice big box from Ger Stopp this morning, and it was SO cold in the potting shed I had to unpack it in the kitchen. You will not believe this, when I was finished I had to clean up the mess I caused by myself  :) and then bring herself to a shopping center 12 miles away to calm her down. Women are not like  they used to be when I was young. ;D

For slightly larger plants:  Klose Staudengärtnerei. Very near the motorway junctions at Kassel. http://www.staudengaertner-klose.de/
For real alpines: Sündermann Botanischer Alpengarten still exists in Lindau on the Bodensee - but that is as far as to Austria. www.alpengarten-suendermann.de/
There used to be the Simon family in Marktheidenfeldt. www.gaertnerei-simon.de/

From Gerd Stopp, Ulla?  If so, could you send it to me, please?
