I have seen articles that are now saying that the growing of hydrangeas in some parts of world is becoming more challenging due to climate change.
I grow paniculata varieties which seem to cope better with high temperatures and dry.

The garden gets increasingly wild in the summer months where many of the flowers have self seeded. So many bees and even a few butterflies are around.

Ian your Roscoea are growing in perfect conditions, i sadely can't grow them anymore with the climate's change. Thanks for sharing a window onto your garden.

In a month that we have been battered by Storm Floris, bringing gale force winds and torrential rain, now we are in a mini heat wave no wonder we are always speaking about the weather. In this Bulb Log I look at the value of survivors and volunteers especially in the summer garden and troughs.

Hi Ian,
I for one would miss hearing your "voice" as I read the Bulb Log, but don't blame you for wanting a rest.
I still refer people to the Bulb Log, especially in regard to growing bulb from seed.
Your varied look at all aspects of gardening and the interaction of light and shade as well as the changing climatic conditions always makes for interesting reading,

Greetings Ian,

Thank you for your years of service sharing your garden through the Bulblog. I definitely understand the effort and commitment involved. Personally, I still find the Bulblog interesting and relevant. For me it is a tour of your garden, and beloved gardens are constantly changing - never boring. I would continue to read the Bulblog into the future. I have always enjoyed those that have shared their gardens, rather than showing specific plants. A tour of Leena's garden in Finland was a fine example.

For me social media served a beneficial purpose when I was caregiving my aged and dying parents. As the Buddhists understand, there is impermanence and change, and for me too things have changed. My parents are now gone to another realm. I spend most days outside working in our garden. It is alive, full of beauty. This is extremely fulfilling. Today, there are many gardening projects that interests me. It seemed time to pause from social media, and focus on these fulfilling gardening projects.

I will miss your now monthly Bulblogs, however I understand change and the need move on. Thank you again for all your efforts. They have definitely been appreciated.

Dear Ian,
     I also wish to thank you for your decades of Bulblogs and Bulblog videos.  The birds definitely enjoy hearing other birds in the background of the videos, so that is their input.
     We truly understand a need to pause, reflect, take a sabbatical, and reconsider what is meaningful in our lives at the moment.  Whether these pauses become permanent or not remain to be seen.  In some ways, life and events are like a river, and this river appears to be a raging torrent, perhaps a bit more tumultuous than your average class four white water rapids.  There is only so much that one can do at a time, and this means resting from some areas while focusing on others.
     Since we too have been on sabbatical from a number of participations, we find refreshment and clarifying in the rest.  We pray you too find yourself restored in creativity.  After all, life is joy and the enthusiasm of creativity.  Blessings!
