I love the dark sheath on those tree peonies.
The Itoh 'Watermelon Wine' here - it is a somewhat deeper colour than in my photo and very nice!

I am in USDA zone 8b where temperatures almost never fall below 15F -9.4C.  Rainfall 50" 110 cm + but none  June-September.  We seldom get snow; but when it comes we get 30" overnight. Soil is sandy loam with a lot of humus.

Paeonia (Intersectional)  'Bartzella'

Paeonia (Intersectional) 'Garden Treasure'

The difference between the two peonies is imperceptible, 'Garden Treasure' blooms a few days later and is definitely shorter.

My last one in flower is a 'Coral Sunset'. 12th April till nearly the 12th of July is not a bad peony flowering season...
