tulipa sprengeri in the fridge?
« on: May 18, 2013, 05:12:49 PM »
Hello Everyone,

Is it possible to put stems of tulipa sprengeri in the fridge to make the flowers last a bit longer?

I have a plant show on the 1st of june, and would like to have the sprengeri in flower for that show. Due to the unusually cold weather we are having this spring, most of my sprengeri are still in the green bud stage, but they will quickly go red orange and start opening quickly after only a few days of heat and sunshine....usually they last about a week in flower....

i tried this system with some hybrid tulips, and it worked ok, but of course, the tulips did not look their best after a week in the fridge...neither did the camassia...
