Drops with yllow blotches on the outer segments.
Hre is GOLDEN CHALICE.
Breeder is Jörg Lebsa. In my eyes it is not only yllow, it is golden.

Alan, please note, there is a difference betweeen my picture and the picture in the journal "drop Out".
But only one can be the original!!!

And the difference to GOLDEN FLEECE is still  bigger.

If we want to speak about galanthus,
all we need are information and knowledge.
An e  more or less is not important.

The breeder said
this culticar is part of the inverse poculiform group.
Also in my eyes. Hope you galanthophiles can agree also!

It is a golden beauty.

'Golden Chalice' does look to be a lovely golden yellow, Hagen.  I only have a modest collection of snowdrops myself and before you posted this I had only ever seen a single picture of what was supposed to be 'Golden Chalice' - the one in 'The Drop Out' No. 2 (which I had forgotten about until I looked up 'Golden Fleece' therein).  What snowdrop is pictured in 'The Drop Out' if it is not 'Golden Chalice'?

Alan, at first you should go in contact to the publisher.
He should know what he has offered at the journal.

Second, listen to my little story.
In the beginning there was a little group of seedlings.
Jörg was happy and took pictures of the first flowers.
But the best seedling was not the first flower.....
In "drop Out" you can see one of the first flowers.....

All of our beauties have a little story, have a little soul.
This is the inner life of the our cultivars... and if you could be a good storyteller.............

OK???

Thanks for that explanation, Hagen.  I suspect it's quite a frequent occurrence that where a group of seedlings that are similar but not identical is bred (or discovered) then the 'best' one is named and the others are not publicised so we never know of their existence.  I wonder if they are typically destroyed or just confined to some remote corner of the garden/plot?

I see a new list in the making!!!  I thought 'Ecusson d'Or' was the only snowdrop with yellow on the outers, and I feel fortunate to have planted one in September.  Now 'Golden Chalice' .... where will this end?  Is there another double yellow besides 'Lady Elphinstone'?

No, not as far as I know and even 'Lady Elphinstone' obeys Maggi's principle of unreliable markings being not always yellow.  There are many snowdrop variations that don't seem to exist as doubles; for example I cannot think of a double poculiform snowdrop (although somebody will probably enlighten me).

By the way, most of the names mentioned here are wholly unavailable so for most practical purposed 'Ecusson d'Or' is the only snowdrop with yellow on the outers.

I have one with the label G N Netherhall Double Yellow but it has not flowered yet and I know nothing about it. Saw it on Monksilver's table and bought it on impulse.

All right - my new project.  I'll beg some Rosemary B pollen from a friend and dab it on my several yellows.

Maybe a group of us will do so, and we can trade pollen of our results about 2020?

This must have originated from Timothy Clark who lives at Netherhall Manor in Soham https://www.rhs.org.uk/gardens/GardenDetails?id=61 .  He has the most fantastic collection of 'historic' plants of many different species.  You may have seen Timothy Clark at one of the shows, he is pictured here http://www.newmarketjournal.co.uk/news/latest-news/it-s-a-magical-history-tour-1-5249260 .  He also has a single called 'Netherhall Yellow'.
