Good news from Czech rockgardeners
« on: October 26, 2011, 11:23:08 AM »
Last weekend we were at the annual meeting of the Prague Rock Garden Club and met many old friends we knew
from former events and our forum. A marathon of excellent lectures, translated by ZZ, good bohemian food,
drinks and a visit to a nursery with many dwarf conifers made this all to a very pleasant event to us.
The nursery is run by the father, which is retired and his two sons, and their main job is landscape gardening.

The good news are also the fact, that all the former Czech local rockgardening clubs joined and founded the new Czech
Rock Garden Society to form a strong community.
The 2. International Rockgarden Conference will be held from 2. to the 5.of May 2013 in Tabor, south of Prague.
The program is still to be made, but a post-conference bus tour is planned, also 11 lectures and a crevice gardening
workshop where also troughgardens will be made.
So it is time to start saving money for visiting this fine event!

I know there are many from the UK already anticipating this event ...... I hope it will be a huge success.
I am seriously thinking of going there.... it  depends on my duties at home, of course, with my little dogs.... but I think this may be an event that I really do not want to miss!   :)

We must send our congratulations, too, to the various Czech Groups that have gathered together to make a firm new cohort of Czech rock gardeners.

To success and the future!

Rudi,
thanks for the pics and for the excellent news from The Czech Republic. We're already starting to save for the trip! Having been at the 1st, I would love to be at the 2nd International Czech Rock Garden Conference! I'm hoping to come via India so I can visit my relatives on the way ;D - that'll save a second trip later in the year, though Goa can be pretty hot in April :-\
cheers

Rudi, what a wonderful event this will be for those lucky people who are able to go there. It must be EXTRA SPECIAL if it will get Maggi away from her home. ;D

I would love to be there, for the people, the plants and for the music in Prague but NZ is such a long way to travel and the Conference is only 18 months away in time. But I wish you all the very best for the event and I'll look forward to seeing it all here, on the Forum.

Kindest regards to all in the Czech Republic.

Thank you all for the kind replies, it would be very nice if Maggi, Ian and many other forumists could visit this event.
I am sure, that everybody will have a good time there and take the chance to meet people only known from
written publications and the internet.

The Conference is to be held in 2013 or next year? Talking with someone from Hungary I got to understand there is an alpines conference next spring in Prague.
alpines, ferns, bulbs, climbers, shrubs, annuals, tropicals, edibles, vegetables, etc

There is always the Spring Show in Prague, Razvan, which usually has a talk  or two to go with that, but the  "big"  International Conference is in 2013.
