I think that it's now known as Cyrtanthus elatus.

Interesting that yours are in flower now Angie, mine started several weeks ago and now there's just one presentable flower left. It is great for a bit of bright colour on a dull autumn day though.  :D

Hi angie I grow this, it's not flowered yet as its only a young plant. It's common name is Scarborough lily. I believe the name has been changed, also grows wild in South africa.

Thanks for the name, looked it up and it said it can grow in sun or shade, good thing as for the last few weeks it hasn't had much sunlight. I got the bulb from a friend and thankfully she isn't on this forum. I forgot to plant the bulb  :-X
Lovely flower, its just one bulb so hope it bulks up.
Like you say Peter it defiantly brightens up these days. Actually saw the sun today, all the plants in the greenhouse were jumping up and down  ;D
