Unknown Asteraceae
« on: September 17, 2010, 08:19:47 AM »
A friend has sent me this picture for identification.  My first guess would be Hieracium tomentosum (=lanatum).
Has anyone out there any other ideas or thoughts?

Hi

Not an easy thing to find out the true identity of hieraciums!
H.lanatum should really be heavily/densely woolly, a point that greatly facilitates its identification amongst the others H.species.
I think H.villosum could match better with your pic.
