Pink campanula
« on: June 14, 2010, 07:49:46 PM »
Hi,  I've had this campanula for quite a while now but I've never known its name.  It has foliage similar to C. alliarifolia but the books say the flowers for that are white, and this one has pink flowers.  I would be grateful if anyone can put a name to it for me.

Wondering if it might be Campanula makaschvilii ?

Found a pic of it at  Majella Rochelle's site in Canada, too...http://www.mlarochelle.net/catalogue/catSDang.php

Clare agrees Maggi.
She has a number in pots ready for show - we hope! ::)
Described in the Enc. of Alpines as 'like alliarifolia but smaller in all its parts - pink flowers'.

Thanks Maggi.  Its a lovely thing and I plan to dig up a few seedlings once I see them flower, maybe I'll put a couple on the sale table at Belford at our AGM.  Didn't want to do that without a proper name though.
