Epipactis species
« on: April 27, 2010, 09:41:13 AM »
I bought an Epipactis palustris gigantea 'Enchantment' today.
But it seems weird that it is as well a 'Giant Helleborine' as a 'Marsh Helleborine'.
Anyone know if it is a cross between the two species or if it is a selection of one of both species?

The cross between E. gigantea and E. palustris is called E. Sabine. 'Enchantment' seems to be a clone of gigantea, not the cross. It might be that the label on your plant is missing an 'x'. I'd go back to the seller and ask if it should be an Epipactis Sabine made from a cross between these two: Epipactis palustris x Epipactis gicantea 'Enchantment'.
