rock garden in shady place
« on: August 29, 2018, 11:07:17 AM »
hello everyone
I want to make a rock garden in a shady place. I am wondering if it will look good, because not every plant can grow in such place. For sure I will plant there Foam flowers, Astilbes, Foxgloves and Primrose. What other plants can I combine with them to look good?

How shady? Part day sun is different than all day shade..
-There are many small ferns that grow in rocks..
-many small evergreens like Linnaea, wintergreens etc..
-spring flowering bulbs, Corydalis etc work if there is some sun in spring
--many small woodland plants will be happy among rocks as long as their soil and moisture preferences are met ( and there are woodland plants for every  soil and moisture regime)
