Doddington Place Gardens, near Sittingbourne, Kent

Not a perfect day for a garden visit yesterday, but it was a Bank Holiday so we should not be surprised by the cold wind and grey skies. Doddington Place is one of those fortunate gardens where a large pocket of acid soil on the underlying chalk downland enables them to grow Rhododendrons and all manner of ericaceous plants. A woodland garden, a formal garden, a rock garden, a Wellingtonia Walk, an Edwardian country house (not open), set in acres of glorious parkland. Massive trees, huge old rhododendrons, and especially lots of deciduous azaleas - read all about it here: http://www.doddingtonplacegardens.co.uk.
