Sierra de Grazalema / Ronda area, Spain, end of March
« on: February 15, 2016, 06:47:22 PM »
Hi there, we're going for a week's holiday at Easter in the Sierra de Grazalema, near Ronda. Can anybody recommend some good localities to visit, and plants to look out for? Will post photos...

Best, Tristan

Take a look at the AGS Narcissi of Iberia tour.  You'll get the best info from the Greentours website particularly if you go to the 2012 tour report and the detailed itinerary.  Keep in mind that they ran the 2012 tour in the reverse order- starting in Malaga and ending in Porto.

My Dad and I are going on it but obviously we haven't left yet so I don't know what we'll see there.  I know there are supposed to be Narcissi in the area.  With a map you may be able to get a better idea of what you might see.

Jan's suggestion is a good one for localities in the region, but many of the plants in flower on the AGS trip may be over come Easter at the end of March. There,s a recently published field guide to the Flowers of Eastern Andalucia by Sarah Ball. It is in English and available in Uk from the NHBS on nhbs.com. I've not seen this but many of the plants in the Ronda area will be in it I'm sure.

Thanks both for your suggestions. Hopefully there will still be a few nice things out.
