Is this a Penstemon?
« on: June 05, 2015, 04:48:16 PM »
Is this a Penstemon, please, and if so which one?  Don't know where I acquired it unless it came from my previous garden.  I can't remember it there.  The flowers are a bit OTT, I should have photographed them earlier. I have consulted the spreadsheet from the Aberdeen garden and there are around 15 species/cultivars listed.

A Penstemon procerus of some sort? We'll need "penstemon" Bob to know...... ;)
Good flower heads on a neat plant, eh?

Thanks, Maggi.  P. procerus is certainly on the Aberdeen plant list.  Helen and Bill McGregpr have been very generous letting me put in a 'wish list' for some of 'my' plants, and bringing them when they come to visit or to shows.  I didn't ask for this one, but sometimes an interloper hitching a ride with another plant materialised, so this could well be one of them.  Yes, it is a neat plant and is performing well here.
