Our first Narcissus for June, a pale cream hoop petticoat which I think came as Narcissus cantabricus

Fermi it seems the world is getting smaller. I do like your narcissus. Here in Scotland on the other side of the world from you I have flowers on the narcissus sent to me from the south of England. They were spare bulbs and my friend could not ID them for me at the time. They grow on a raised bed facing west. This is their 2nd or 3rd year of flowering for me.
I also show N. poeticus var. recurvus in pots. I bought these in prepacks. There are plenty of buds yet to open. They were planted late around the middle of November 2014. We have had a cold wet and windy winter. They were grown outside and had to take their chances.

Well Fermi, the first pic is of the only bulb in a packet of "Narcissus bulbocodium" that was worth planting, as the rest were mush! The next two are N. papyraceus from a packet bought in 2011 and produced 1 flowering stalk from 12 bulbs that year. Not seen them for sale in garden centres since. The last is N. panizzianus, which is probably in too dark a spot, under bushes against an east facing fence.

Hi Anthony,
that surviving one appears to have been affected by "transmutium" to become an iris!
We've had such a dry season that our Paperwhites haven't come into flower yet :(
In fact we got some new ones for a new bulb area and haven't planted them yet :-[
They are such indestructible bulbs in our climate that I'm sure they'll still flower in spring.

Hi latestart,
It's wonderful that you still have hoop petticoats in flower at the same time that we do here! I do find that our season starts with the white and cream coloured ones and the deep yellows come much later. But I don't think we'd have any in flower in December which would be our equivalent of your June!
cheers

We visited a friend in Macedon which is only 40 mins away from us but has a completely different climate - more similar to Otto's than ours!
She had a lovely pot of hoop petticoat daff in bloom (lost label!)

Here's an un-named Narcissus bulbocodium and a third flower on my N. albidus.

Rafa tells me the bulbocodium-type pictured above is not Spanish. Wonder what it could be? Perhaps romieuxii, but then again, the anthers are within the corona and not sticking out which brings it back to bulbocodium?

Anthony,
I find the "hoops" as promiscuous as aquilegias! :o ;D
This one appeared near a cluster of hybrids including 'Tarlatan' and 'Fyno'; it appears to have a bit of N.romieuxii in it and stands quite tall,

Maybe Latestart should be renamed 'Early Start'! How weird to have a hoop in flower now. Great to see daffs in flower when all mine are asleep.

Annew I checked back and found these were in flower late April early May last year.  The sun does not reach the raised alpine bed where they are growing until well on in the afternoon. I thought I had lost them because they were so late but better late than never.
