Death of well known alpine gardener August 2008
« on: August 13, 2008, 08:09:06 PM »
I have just learned that John Saxton, who was very well known in the Alpine Garden Society as an exhibitor, judge and for his work with the seed exchange, has passed away.
John and Gill Saxton were Nottingham Show Secretaries for a long time.
John's  funeral was yesterday, 12th August.
John was known to many in the SRGC, too, of course and I am sure that all our best wishes go out to his widow, Gill and to their son.

I'm really sory to hear of this as John and Gill were the recipients for my seeds in recent years, me being a C. While I didn't have any personal knowledge of him, I felt to a large extent that he was my own point of contact. If Gill reads these notes, I hope she will know I am thinking of her and sending kindest regards.

Our sincere condolences to Gill and her family. John's knowledge and expertise, and his dry sense of humor will be sorely missed.
God bless
