Hippeastrum yungacensis kiara??
« on: April 14, 2012, 06:52:04 PM »
hello everyone,

does anyone know anything about Hippeastrum yungacensis kiara? is it a hybrid? if so, between which sp? is it as beautifull in flower shape and colour as the true sp yungacensis?

perhaps if its a hybrid it may be easier to grow than the sp?

Hippeastrum yungacensis  is also found online as  Hippeastrum yungasensis, I see.
The Kew plant list says Hippeastrum yungacense
Is it any wonder we can get confused?

do you meen where did i find kiara or the type yungacensis? (I hope thats the right spelling...quite a tricky name..)

1 was found on Ebay (sp type), the other in a french nursery.

I am tempted to purchase a bulb, but as there is a $150 difference in price between the sp and (maybe) hybrid kiara, i would like to know a bit more about these 2..is the sp more difficult to grow? i wouldnt want to spend alot of money on a sp which may rot or die...but if i acidentally kill the cheaper hybrid, it would not be so much of a "financial" loss....
