Trillium grandiflorum Roseum
« on: November 12, 2012, 06:27:15 PM »
A friend ask me; I am wondering what you can tell me about Trillium grandiflorum 'Roseum' clones/forms/selections. It was not much that I could tell him, I knew there was two forms "Edinburgh form" (from Edinburgh botanical garden)  and "Göteborg Form" (from Gothenburg botanical garden) I grow them both and for me they look very similar, good roseum colour from start to end flowering. I also know there are plants found in Blue Mountain US and grow also one of them and it is quite diffrent, I also know there is several seedplants in Europen gardens, but is there other clones/forms/selections with names or without names in Europe?

Hi Karl,
As far as I know although both types look similar the Edinburgh one is a clone and only divided, the seedlings don't come very pink. The Gothenburg one has been selected over time so that the seedlings come as pink as the parents, the plants under this name are not necessarily clones. Both are available in Scotland and not necessarily differentiated when they are sold, which clones they originally were have been lost in time.
I am not sure where either originally came from, maybe some of the Swedes can give a better understanding.
