Have you done this yet? You'll be surprised how much space it creates on the hard drive

I think you might have accidentally click on restore the contents of the recycle. I delete everything in my deleted box once a week

You should use disc clean up once a month
start
programmes
accessories
system tools
disc clean up

I don't know how the whole thing happened but I just had an email a few minutes ago from Telecom - and no doubt others did too - apologizing for the damage caused yesterday at lunchtime to the local splash box and the problems the accident caused. When I went into town at 11.30am I noticed there was a digger and a truck with soil on the back working right beside the box and apparently the box was knocked over and smashed. It was replaced by 8pm, Telecom said.

Right now I'm deleting emails 30 at a time and will get through them in time, using Tony's method. will then empty deleted items, then the recycle bin.

Lesley,

Some years ago, Micheal Campbell will recall this, there was a gardening site here in Ireland where contributions were by e-mail. When a member wrote an e-mail it went to all members, including being sent back to the sender.

One weekend, a member in London, I believe, left her office computer e-mail service set with an automated response - "I am out of the office at present and will reply to your e-mail on Monday". Of course when a message arrived at her computer from the gardening site her computer responded with the automated message back to all members of the site - which returned to her computer and generated another automated response and so on and so on until I had 12,000 in my inbox before my server blocked all messages from her computer.

Oh dear Leslie, you seem to be having a tough time of it.

One more suggestion to empty your recycle folder:

1) right click your Recycle bin. It offers a number of options.
2) select Empty Recycle Bin.

That should do it in one go.

Oh Paddy, I had to laugh at that one. ;D Computers will always get the better of us it seems. Of me anyway. ;D

Thanks Maren. I'll do just that. I already have done a couple of times with the deleted items folder and that worked well.
