Visit to Killerton House- 3 March 2011

First visit of the year to Killerton, a little later than normal this year but yesterday was a gorgeous spring day whereas the last 3/4 weeks have been dreich.

Snowdrops were past their best but still some nice clumps in shady areas still in flower. Crocuses were also past their best but again odd clumps still in flower. Daffs were just coming into their own and will be in very good order over the next few weeks. Some early Rhododendrons and Camelia in flower with many more to come over the next few weeks and the first Magnolias were in flower too. At this time of the year I always show the drifts of Cyclamen coum in the Church yard and again these were just beginning to go over but still put on a spectacular show. An assortment of pics below with more tomorrow.

David,

There's no doubt but that cyclamen, snowdrops, crocus and daffodils are at their best in large drifts as they give a wonderful effect.

Good to see this season's cake and tea (and gardens and flowers, of course) outings are under way.
