Olga,Alliums are very difficult to identify and I doubt if anyone will have a definitive answer for you.
It is a very attractive plant and well worth growing.

Ian, what a pity! Yes, it is very attractive but could be more with a name.

Hans, sorry I’ve never seen any Ungernias. They are very rare and grow in countries dangerous to visitors.

I have seed plants of Ungernia around Big Chimgan NE of Tashkent in the summer of 2005 when I was there. It grows quite commonly on dry, grazed slopes, and is evidently shunned by the herbivores. The flowers are reddish brown, and quite attractive. There were some specimens in flower at the beginning of August, but most had gone to seed- though not mature yet. I have some slides I took of the plant. From what I've read it is supposed to be quite difficult to grow, but maybe it just hasn't been tried enough.

Olga, just found this old post while searching for Ungernia :)

Your Allium looks like a form of A. saxatile, found in Tian Shan and widespread in the area.  One of the key diagnostic characteristics are the long bud spathes, although in your photo they have presumably already been shed, so this will have to be just a guess.  Your plant, if found at 3500 m, is slightly higher elevation than reported in FOC, but is seems within the realm of possibility.
