STORY OF A DUTCH FLOWERING BULBFIELD
« on: May 03, 2009, 04:09:49 PM »
Next to our house is this year a Tulip field where 4 varieties are grown.
Many of you will tulips only see in small quantities in a park or in your own garden.
To grow a good bulb quality it is necessary for most tulips that the flowers are taken
off before the flowers are over-ripe.
For this work nowadays there are good machines, but it's impossible for a machine to
pick all flowers, because of variable heights of the plants.
Sometimes you see a group of workers walking through the beds and pick the left flowers.
And I can assure that this is not a nice work to do.
Or you see driving a multifunctional car with several workers inside to do the work.

First some pictures of the field and the varieties.

In this batch a series of pictures, made from our window, showing overviews of the field
(+ next field) with many tourists and how the work is going on.
In every picture I inserted day and daytime, so you might see how fast a colorful view is
changing in a rather dull green view.

That's certainly a fabulous view from your house. It seems like a pity to lose!

Looking at the lines of cars stopped on the side, it seems like the farmer could also make a bit extra by charging for photos! :D

Only if they think I'm out Luit if they know I'm about they keep clear.
