For those interested there is this website with English text and lots of pictures of Romanian plants (pictures of plants, close-ups, habitat, information on distribution). It is an on-going project, over 1000 species of Romania's 3000 being catalogued at present.

I particularly liked these two pictures
Paeonia tenuifolia and Iris species in Bulgaria very close to the Romanian border
and
Crocus banaticus in the bicolored form together with Colchicum autumnale

I should also mention the hefty book on Transilvanian plants (1116 species): Wildpflanzen Siebenbürgens.
With more than 1800 pictures grouped by color it can be used as a field guide even by those who do not speak German.

Another undertaking of the same kind is

It is an online database of living organisms from Romania, both plants and animals (for English one must select the language from the right top corner of the page).
As you can see in this link of viola alba

there are several pictures and also a map with distributions details (sadly one cannot zoom in, and based more on personal observations rather than on publications).
Still the visual key is useful because it lists all plant species in Romania.

An interesting page is this one showing a white form of Dianthus callizonus.
