Death of Harold MacBride - an Irish legend.
« on: September 05, 2025, 05:39:41 PM »
We heard the sad news about the death of that wonderful plantsman and good friend to so many of us, Harold MacBride, from his friend Ian Christie today.
Ian C. writes :  I have just had some very sad news Harold McBride has passed  away one of the finest plantsmen I have shared  my path of life with so many happy memories  one of the very best.  Ian Christie

Harold grew a great many fine - and often difficult -  plants, both in his garden and for Shows, where he had considerable success. His talks were always interesting and both he and his late wife Gwen spared no trouble in entertaining the many vistors to their garden in Lisburn.

Harold MacBride often visited SRGC events, including Shows and Discussion Weekends.  He was honoured by the SRGC by being made an Honorary Vice Presdient.

Such sad news - one of nature's gentlemen. He will be much missed.  Condolences to all his Family,  sons Andrew and Stuart, their wives, and grandchildren, Audrey and Rob, and friends.
