I've just managed to obtain a fair bit of roofing slate and I'd like to use it to turn part of my border into a small crevice garden. Can anyone please advise what kind of soil or compost mixture I should be putting in between the slates (stood on end) to later plant mainly Saxifrage varieties in?
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
