Morning patrol is but a distant vision but the season in Sub-Saharan East Anglia is underway!

G r-o Eleni making an appearance today!

This very strange year continues, last year Eleni first appeared in mid November.

Timings this year continue to be very strange.

Today continued with the Melvyn Show here is Sub-Saharan East Anglia following the appearance of G.r-o Eleni on Wednesday, today we have G. Peshmenii.

This did not break surface until mid October last year.

Worth having a look and keeping watch on the other Autumn visitors!

Sadly the "autumn visitors " here are the mice  making merry with crocus pots. Even moving wire grids off the top of the pots which are supposed to prevent their access. Sigh

Can somebody enlighten me over the correct naming of the green-tipped reginae-olgae that I had from Monksilver as 'Ruby baker'? Should I now rename it Ruby's Green Dream?

Super day at the RHS Wisley Autumn Show, despite the awful parking arrangements!

First up the usual coffee and cake with Melvyn, excellent discussion on early drops and confirmation that drops are appearing very early this year.

Next up in the snowdrop convention, Paul Barney from Edulis, who revealed he has a brand new drop for next season, G. Uptown Girl'. Straight on the list as Paul's drops are always first rate, including one of my favourites G. Faint Heart. (Nice shot of Paul in the crowd around his stand.

Finally, a lot less named drops from Jacques Armand this year.

A raft of Cyclamen and Hostas purchased. Very good day!

When I get a new snowdrop it usually goes into a pot for a period of quarantine before being allowed into the open garden.  I find that in the first year, snowdrops are sometimes unusually early under this regime; after that they settle down to a normal flowering time.  This is one such, a new one on me called 'Frühes Elegantes'.  I don't think I have added it to my list of early snowdrops yet but it seems to have merit.
