« on: June 01, 2018, 05:15:45 PM »
Thanks Anthony Darby I have received in 2015 some seeds of Dietes iridiodes ( we have swap )...
The Germination was well and I have now a pot full with plants ...
Yesterday I have seen a bud ...and today it is open

What a nice surprise !

my Dietes don't flower, they barely survive.  perhaps I should place them in full sun ?

Hi David  ;)

Full sun and lots of heat. We have three species: iridioides; grandiflora and bicolor growing, often as barriers, at the edges of carparks. The council occasionally trim them flat at about knee height with a hedge trimmer.  ???

Dietes grandiflora and bicolor flowers last a few days, but iridioides only lasts a day. I don't grow any.

Thank you Jim.  I will see how they react to proper growing conditions now :-)
