Knightshayes- April 6 2016

We always go to Knightshayes at some part of each Spring and today was 2016's turn. The morning had been typically April with ten minutes sunshine followed by twenty minute heavy showers but we risked the journey and arrived at lunchtime with a strong capacity for cake to be consumed. Our wander around the woodlands and the garden was mainly dry and it only started to rain as we returned to the car.
Each year I say that this year's visit was the best yet and I'll say it yet again but all the Springtime visits have been different. This year the Erythroniums, Scillas, Bluebells, Primroses, Trilliums, Narcissus, Magnolias, Frits etc. were magnificent but, in the main, the Rhododendrons needed another couple of weeks.
Some pictures, and hope not too many for you. None of them are named but I hope you enjoy them and for those of you based outside the British Isles I hope they give an impression of what an English Spring is like. Oh! there's a butterfly in one picture and I wouldn't mind an ID please.

A good place to visit with all those Erythroniums!
I can ID very few butterflies- but I know this one in pic 0036 of Knighthayes 8-
it's a Peacock butterfly -
