Brooklyn Botanic Garden
« on: May 08, 2014, 07:56:35 PM »
Help please.  I'm off for a short trip to New York in 2 weeks' time and am thinking of going to see this Botanic Garden.  Can anyone give me some information about what is worth seeing there.  Or are there better gardens in New Yrok that I can visit?

Maggi:

You covered all the first choice ones.

I love Wave Hill with a view of the Hudson and Palisades.

My choice would be to go the the NY Botanical Garden first it has a large Victorian  glasshouse, recently refurbished and a rock garden.

There are some in the Philadelphia area worth a visit.

Very many thanks, Maggi and Arnold T.  I'm visiting New York with my daughter for a short 4 day trip so will only be able to take in one good garden (trade off with my daughter - I'll go to the shops with her).  Thanks, Arnold, for pointing me in the direction of the New York Botanic Garden for it looks really interesting, especially the Native Plants area. I'll try to post a few photos when I get home - but not until after Gardening Scotland.

Some folk like to get away
Take a holiday from the neighbourhood
Hop a flight to Miami Beach
Or to Hollywood
But I'm taking a Greyhound
On the Hudson River Line
I'm in a New York state of mind

Mmmm I'm pleased with that, must write some music for it one of these days ;D Maybe I'll just grow a beard and put a few pounds round my waist though :P

Have a great time Liz.

Sound like a familiar trade off, Gardens versus shopping. Just did that trick in London in August and spent a day at Kew..

Liz I'll send my cell number in a PM.  I'm away July 1-July 15th.
