My wife's school uses two litre milk cartons cut out in the shape of scoops for scraping up compost off benches in the class room.

Here in New Zealand you can't buy anything for the listed price in cash as they are all $**.99 or $**.56 etc and the smallest coin is 10c. I usually use my debit card (called an EFTPOS card here) if the bill comes to more than $**.55 as the cost is rounded up for cash.
