Title: mystery plants from Argentina

Hola Amigos ,

I have received this two pics from a friend who has visit the mountains Argentina - Los Andes .
The plants grows in the northern part - Provinces of Salta and Jujuy - not far from the bolivian border
The altitude is more than 3000 m !

Can anybody help with a ID ?

What's about Phycella ignea? At least there is a plant depicted in Adriana Hoffmann's ' Flora silvestre de Chile - zona central ' which is very similar to that of your pics.

Hi Gerd ,

I suppose thats two different genus - both locations are far away .
The second locationis not so far from Chile - but after my informations are Phycella not listet for Argentina .
One of this plants could be Eustephia , a other idea is Hieromiella .
Could you please send me ( privat ) a copy of this picture of the book from A.Hoffmann ?

The problem is in this area have not worked so many botanists -and if there is build a new road ....
