Anyone know this one, found apparently abandoned by the side of the road?

Rosa multiflora I think? It is one of those used as a rootstock for grafting, or at least it is here in Aus.

it is a bit like identification of crocus species. Difficult to judge just from photo. :)
It could be some form of mutliflora as Paul suggest but flowers look to large...

Yes, I had wondered about the size a bit too. It does look rather large in the photo.
