Here are some pics from a recent visit :) Thanks to Hans for some information, expecially on where to find LARGE numbers of the Colchicum.
Arum pictum
Asplenium fontanum?
Colchicum filifolium (syn. Merendera filifolia)
For botanical people visiting the island I can recommend Elspeth Becket's 'Illustrated Flora of Mallorca', excellent illustrations and very useful.
More pictures will eventually be published at http://keesjan.smugmug.com (http://keesjan.smugmug.com) As you will see some items are still unidentified so any help with those will be much appreciated.

Crocus cambessedesii
Spiranthes spiralis
Daphne gnidium
boat to Dragonera island
lizard on Dragonera island, which one? (identified now as the endemic Podarcis lilfordi ssp gigliolii)
Narcissus obsoletus
-
Hypericum balearicum
Church of Santanyi
Bellium bellidioides
Malvaceae, which one?
Viola arborescens
Myrtus communis
Phoenicopterus ruber
-
Smilax aspera (3x, first two of the 'mountain form' - sometimes considered var. balearica -, which hardly has no leaves or reduced leaves)
?, something in Chenopodiaceae I suppose
Crithmum maritimum
Phoenicopterus ruber
Bellis sylvestris

Superb pictures Kees Jan!! Glad you found so many gems of this island- and fantastic of pictures Phoenicopterus ruber, doubt I have seen such a nice group here as you saw!
The Lizard is Podarcis lilfordi ssp gigliolii (endemic ssp of Sa Dragonera), Malvacea should be Lavatera maritima, Chenopodiaceae could be Salicornia ramosissima. Think fern is Asplenium marinum.

Beautiful pictures, Kees Jan. Really liked the Hypericum, what a setting!

Hi Hans,
Thanks for the names!

Here are two mistery plants ???. The first - with the big leaves - was photographed on the summit of the 2nd highest mountain of Mallorca. The second is common in cultivation Mallorca, it remind me of Campsis, but I'm not sure if it is.
-
The 2nd pic. Dipladenia / Mandevilla ?

The 2nd pic. Dipladenia / Mandevilla ?
I have the same opinion as Michael . Very nice pics Kees -Jan ! Must visit Mallorca in the autumn sometimes ...
-
- was photographed on the summit of the 2nd highest mountain of Morocco.
Would it grow on Mallorca I would say Pastinaca lucida - an endemic species of the balearic islands. 8) ;)
Second looks like Pandorea jasminoides (in Alfabia?).
-
Thanks for the name of the climber, Mandevilla seems to fit quit well.
Here are two more exotic plants, both photographed in a huge garden named 'Botanicactus'... First is a Yucca, the 2nd Chlorisia speciosa.
-
uh, I made the same mistake as a while ago Hans: I meant Mallorca ofcourse and have corrected my earlier entry! Thanks for the names. :) Yes, 2nd one was photographed in Alfabia.
-
The second
Podranea ricasoliana from Bignoniaceae family? Are there "hairs" in throat of flower?
T.

These galleries still need some pruning at a later stage.
I have not yet managed to identify the following plants, any suggestions?
1, photographed at Puig de Masanella
2, photographed below Puig de Masanella
3 Helichrysum, but which one?, photographed at Salobror de Campos
4 Another Helichrysum, photographed at Puig de Masanella

Kees Jan,
Many thanks for your exciting Mallorca images!

As usual great pictures Kees Jan!
I think the names of the plants you are looking for are 1Helichrysum ambiguum, 2Thymelaea velutina, 3 Helichrysum stoechas (?) and 4 Helichrysum italicum subsp. microphyllum(?).
-
Many thanks for your help Hans :)
I'm very surprised by the Thymelaea ::) :o ::)! But I have had a look at some pics of it on the web and it fits perfectly. Never seen a Thymelaea even remotely similar though...
Thanks again.
