I believe this to be the announced English-language publication of Gunter's book originally published in German titled "Schneeglockchen - Zauber in Weiss". The cover photo is different from the original book. If this is as I suspect it is a book well worth having; packed with excellent photos and not a little expert comment on the genus. And the Amazon price is pretty sharp.

well spotted Loes!

Received my pre-ordered copy yesterday from Amazon.

My copy arrived yesterday too. Some wonderful photos, my list for Father Christmas has expanded considerably. I see on page 157 that Beccles has been moved from Suffolk to Somerset, it will take me hours to get to the Gala now! ;D
-
I have a copy of the book since October 18, something I mentioned in the October snowdrop thread. I have enjoyed reading it; a good initial summary of the species and a nice selection of cultivars and photographs afterwards.

currently enjoying my copy of the English edition, which arrrived yesterday. There are quite a few examples of dodgy proof-reading, but I particularly like the description of Timms Hill Poe on p. 155 as "A variety photographed in England, which as yet has no description."

There are much more things of fun in it :D

I have the original version which is just nice to look at the photos but rather frustrating not being able to understand it. I am presuming it is written in German?
Just bought the English version on Amazon - thanks for the update.

Will let you know Brian - only ordered it this morning :) This may sound ignorant but do people from the Netherlands understand German? If so, I could post my German version to a cyber friend of mine who loves snowdrops and is quite ill at the moment.
-
Hello Jennie, you need a German friend in the moment 8).
-
Jennie,
Most people in the Netherlands can read and understand German but it still is quite different from Dutch.
For example,I have the German version of this book and was happy with it but my English is better than my German so I bought the English version too.
Having said that I still think it would be a very nice gift for your friend.

Thanks Loes - I will phone her soon and ask her.
