Here is an Iris serotina in the garden, I think it could be the last Iris in bloom

I would like to collect this year, it take 2 moths to set seeds. In my notes, it is ready October the first.
Fred, next season they should bloom?

 My seedlings might flower next year (I hope). are there different colour forms?

yes, there are a colour range, dark to pale blue. It is an interesting iris for summer.

Pat, I think when "teletransportation" will be ready it will be very useful to us to have two opportunities per year to see Narcissus and Iris blooms by changing the hemisphere  ;D

That is a real beauty Rafa and a peculiar flowering time...
Can you tell at what elevations it grow and does it receive summer rains?

This species is very hardy, the place I use to collect is  mountain range arround 1000m, limestone. The temperatures could be during winter -10º and 35º or even more 40ºC. Watering from October to June and then very few. It has british punctuality blooming: August the First, and seeds October the first. I think this year I will collect some seeds...

It could have 1, 2, 3 (maybe more in old bulbs) consecutive flowers per bulb, like Iris xiphium...

Yes, and it's on the "allowed list", so if some kind person were to send us some clean seed it would allowed in! ;D
