Hello all.
I am new to this site :) so go easy :D
I am a beekeeper and have been looking for Tetradium daniellii or Korean Evodia, or beebee tree seeds in the uk.
does anyone have any seeds? or know of any public parks and gardens with Tetradium daniellii in them?
thank you for your time :)

http://www.chilternseeds.co.uk/item_579_evodia_daniellii_seeds (http://www.chilternseeds.co.uk/item_579_evodia_daniellii_seeds) - currently saying unavailable but probably worth calling them ;)
Apparently Tetradium danielliii is a synonym of Evodia daniellii.

WOW thank you for your very prompt reply. I did have a look at this site(http://www.burncoose.co.uk/site/plants.cfm?_cr=GA1&pl_id=4137 (http://www.burncoose.co.uk/site/plants.cfm?_cr=GA1&pl_id=4137)) then stumbled across SRGC by accident.
I have seen seeds for sale from Lithuania but dnt know the law on importing seeds into uk so thought id best sick with uk.
-
They appear to be readily available on a number of USA websites also. If you are only bringing in a few for your personal use there isn't any problem ( that I have encountered ) in bringing seeds in from across 'the pond'. Good luck. I'm just preparing my hive ready to start with the bees next year I hope. ;D ;D
-
Also has it as Eudoia daniellii..

You'll find 'out of subject' is very common here, as threads develop. ;D ;D
Yes, first hive, although I've studied them for years. Now for the practical!! ::) ::)

(no problems getting seed from them, I've bought from them several times)

Welcome, LoCo!
No problem to import seeds from Lithuania, either.
Seems that you will have a choice of sources.
I'm pretty sure there are a few beekeepers around the Forum - cant name them offhand, but they'll appear, I daresay!
-
Thank you so much for your very quick reply's.

Fantastic wishing you all the best. i to started by reading beekeeping books, and search the web for every
bit of info i could read. You'll get so much enjoyment from keeping bees. word of advice tho once you start
you will get hooked and then the inevitable happens you get more hives :)
not a bad thing tho :)

Not a bad thing at all- everyone who likes to eat should applaud beekeepers- we'd have precious little grub without them and their busy little helpers.

Thank you, I'm really looking forward to it. The chap who gave me a hive last year had seven, and when I visited I only got stung three times! :'( :'( ;D ;D
Thanks also for your contagious hives warning, but I'm not known for becoming addicted to collecting plants in any way, shape, or form so should be OK! :-X :-X :-X :-X
Hope you will be staying here on the Forum from time to time as I'm sure I'll be needing help at some point ::) ::)

Referring back to Maggi's comment of no bees = no grub, we have had them extraordinary miserable summer here. June and July were the wettest, dullest and coldest June and July ever recorded. As a result, we have had terribly poor bee activity and I have the worst set of fruit I have ever witnessed. My apple trees have the worst set I have ever seen and blackcurrants, redcurrants, plums, pears (a tree with one pear!) loganberries, raspberries have all cropped very poorly. A friend who keeps bees reported on a neighbour who has acres under apples where the crop is a complete failure and all this due to the fact that bees were not flying at blossom time.
Re Evodia daniellii - I have one in the garden, grown from seed received from N. America about 10 - 15 years ago. It is a lovely tree and I go to admire a huge specimen in Mount Usher gardens, in County Wicklow, each year. It is very beautiful in fruit as well as in flower. Just coming into flower here at the moment.

Yes i and many other beekeepers have had to feed our colonies during that wet weather. however they have had a few good weeks so far, there presently collecting from himalayan balsam which is everywhere, very invasive plant but the bees love it :)
