Title: Ozirhoe biflora - Identification needed
Post by: Gerdk on May 23, 2012, 09:19:33 PM
Just flowering - a plant raised from seeds labelled Ozirhoe biflora

I would be glad if I had a confirmation whether this is the 'real ' species

The plant looks real enough Gerd :) but nothing comes up in a Google search for that generic name.

Kew plant list  says:
Fortunatia biflora (Ruiz & Pav.) J.F.Macbr. is a synonym of Oziroe biflora (Ruiz & Pav.) Speta

I am grateful to a friend who contacted me to say: " I believe it is
a synonym for Fortunatia biflora and looks very much like images of that
species I have from Kew.  There are images on the web on chileflora, and
also one on flickr which I am not convinced is correct."

Thank you, Jon, this is indeed helpful 8)

Thank you both, Lesley and Maggi!

If I only had taken a look into my notes - the plant is of NARGS - origin " Oziroe biflora (Fortunatia biflora) - coll.
foothills of Andes near Santiago -
after looking at the images I'm now totally sure to own the right (Lesley  ;)!) plant.

So you too know that saying which applies to many of us, certainly to me. "If all else fails, read the instructions" or in other words, look at your own information and see what you already have. I often forget that somewhere among the accumulated paper piles of past ages, there is the note I wrote or the reference I read eons ago. ;D ??? ::)

Agree Lesley!

Also using internet is a lot easier than searching in own files - shame on me!  :-[
