Primula veris in Mount Velebit- Croatia (30.4.2012)

mouth watering images! Mass flowering is always spectacular. P. veris is another favourite in my meadow ;D
Do you know if it is a subspecies? - the coronas ares so wide open... Or is it just peak of blossom?

..... and seem to lack the red dots on the inside one would expect on a cowslip. From the photos I'd have said Primula elatior. I used to grow 1000s of both of these species.

I think this is my fault :-[ Zvone had shown a photo, titled P. auricula and I said it was veris.... but I am always getting veris and elatior mixed up.... it's a blind spot of mine. :-X
So sorry! Especially sorry to you Zvone, for being a stupid woman to confuse the issue!

I don't think it is cowslip P. elatior. Blossom is too yellow, some (weaker) dots visible (if you zoom in the image), foiliage is typical for P. veris.
Also, P. elatior is prefering wet meadows and more shadow places. Not full sun in dry meadow.

I thought of Primula veris subsp. suaveolens.
