Title: Julian Alps - last flowers
Post by: Matic Sever on October 14, 2007, 06:58:21 PM
Mountain peaks are allready white and snow is coming lower and lower. Here are few photos taken in Julian Alps 1600m above see level (13.10.2007). As you see some plants are late and others too early. Of course these are only exceptions.
Campanula cespitosa 13.10.2007
 Gentiana verna 13.10.2007
 Geum rivale 13.10.2007
 Rhododendron hirsutum 13.10.2007
 Rhodothamnus chamaecistus 13.10.2007
 Saxifraga crustata 13.10.2007

Good to think of these flowers at the end of the season, Matic. Great pictures... Rhodothamnus chamaecistus is one of my favourites, with the Rhododendron hirsutum.

The Rhodothamnus is in its spring colours in NZ at present, see Trillium Weekend at Methven 2007 - well maybe tomorrow.

Photos were taken in mountains Lepoca and Trebisca. Around 30 km east of Kanin near village Trenta (river Soca valley).
