Title: Wolfstal near Lauterach
Post by: ruweiss on March 19, 2012, 09:32:58 PM
Yesterday we made a trip to this Natural Reserve, famous for Millions of Leucojum vernum and were
fully rewarded. The view was simply great and many visitors (including us) had a wonderful time.
An old machine for sawing tufa blocks from a nearby quarry was rebuilt near the entrance of the
valley as a monument of the activities, which ended about 60 years ago.
The fungus Scarcoscvpha coccinea, a very showy and endangered species was also there.
A few Galanthus nivalis grew beside the path, but not as numerous as the Leucojum.

Rudi, thank you for taking us to Wolfstal. Lovely snowflakes. I did not know, you can see them like this in nature.

Lina.

Thank you indeed Rudi. (And a nice change from those other green and white things. ;D) I know this lovely Leucojum is in NZ but for the life of me I've not been able to obtain a few. Even the seed Thomas sent me germinated then never appeared again.

The red fingus is really spectacular! 8)

Lesley , Leucojum vernum increases rapidly in my garden , but your Quarantine regulations prevents me from sharing them with you .

I could get some from Marcus if he had some to spare. He's not talking to me at present, on the other hand, I'm not talking to him. We must both be too busy. ;D
