Title: Wolfstal near Lauterach
Post by: ruweiss on March 19, 2012, 09:32:58 PM: Yesterday we made a trip to this Natural Reserve, famous for Millions of Leucojum vernum and were
fully rewarded. The view was simply great and many visitors (including us) had a wonderful time.
An old machine for sawing tufa blocks from a nearby quarry was rebuilt near the entrance of the
valley as a monument of the activities, which ended about 60 years ago.
The fungus Scarcoscvpha coccinea, a very showy and endangered species was also there.
A few Galanthus nivalis grew beside the path, but not as numerous as the Leucojum.

(And a nice change from those other green and white things. ;D) I know this lovely Leucojum is in NZ but for the life of me I've not been able to obtain a few. Even the seed Thomas sent me germinated then never appeared again.

The red fingus is really spectacular! 8)

Lesley , Leucojum vernum increases rapidly in my garden , but your Quarantine regulations prevents me from sharing them with you .
