Title: potting on Pulsatillas

I have a large pot with many Pulsatilla lutea seedlings that grew from open pollinated seeds. When can I knock them out and pot them on?

A few look like they will flower this year.

I potted on pulsatilla seedlings when they showed proper growth i.e. more than just the initial seed leaves.  They seem to have done OK and came through the winter.  Any earlier and they are too small to handle.

I do pulsatillas at the two sets of true leaves stage. The seed you sent me a while back Mark, of P. albana lutea, are well potted on by now.

The sooner the better. they do not like root disturbance and the more roots they have the less success there is when transplanting them. I do mine at the same sort of stage as Lesley. Mind, most of the ones I do are self sown rather than from a pot of compost.
