It could be named after Bukit Larut, a small mountain in NW Malaysia and an extremely rich area for plants (and animals I suppose)... I didn't know there were Aspidistra there... very nice pictures Hans!

I'm never REALLY surpised by any of the huge variety of topics which make their way to the Forum, until today. "Aspidistra" immediately makes me think of the inimitable Gracie Fields and "The Biggest Aspidistra in the World." I could never separate the plant from the singer. ;D

Cool flowers though. 8)

Wow! Does this plant live outside all year, Hans, or do you bring it under cover for the winter?
The flowers are wonderful.

Maggi ,

I'm happy that you are not shocked in this time as for my last pictures  ;)

All my Aspidistra are only in summer outside in my garden - in winter they are in the basement ( around 15° ) some are also in the garage ( frost free )
Last year I have made a try with growing a Aspidistra outside ...but after this strong winter the plant was dying - luckily only a common plant from this clon I had some pots

I am getting stronger, Hans- there are so many insect photos on the forum that I must get tougher to survive the shock of all those legs - so these flowers come as something of a relief! ;)
