Does anyone know a source for Lilium chalcedonicum?
Also, I would like info on its cultivation.
many thanks

I was sent some seeds by John Forrest. It grows well in ordinary garden soil, well drained at all times. But I've done nothing special with it. Though it flowers well (3 bulbs) it has set no seed so far. Perhaps you could make a quick trip to Greece in early autumn? ;D It is very lovely.

Hi Angelo,
you could try W.Hyde.com.UK or Rare Plants .com.UK which is located in Wales U.K.
both these have offered Chalcedonicum for sale in the past.and both do mail order.

Membership in the RHS lily group would give you a seed list that most likely will also contain this species

Angelo I have some spare seedlings you can have, send me an email with your address. When I offered the seed nobody wanted it and so I sowed it myself.
I grow it in clay pots of John Innes plus some grit plunged in sand outside.I cover it in winter to keep of excess rain.I would think with you it will grow well outside.
This is the plant the seed is from

I'm still amazed nobody wanted the seed Tony. As I said to you afterwards- I did not see the offer until two days later and assumed it would all be gone so never bothered asking. The bulb you kindly gave me is sound and hopefully will produce a shoot this year.
