Sunday August 19th 2012 2pm at Pentlow Mill, near Cavendish CO10 7SP
See you there! My flight is booked
-
Galanthophiles will be interested to learn the following:
Katherine would like to sell the bulk of David Quinton's collection at the Anglia Group Bulb Sale on the 19th August. Because of their small or medium size they will be available in starter packs so people can see what they are buying. There will be a very good range of varieties and they will be priced to reflect the fact that many will have to be grown on to flowering size.
Please note they will not be available before the event!
Also one of David’s choice bulbs will be auctioned at the event.
The details of the bulb sale are below.
The AGS Mid Anglia Group’s bulb sale will be at Pentlow Mill near Cavendish CO10 7SP on the 19th August at 2.00pm. The former mill home of Andrew and Jenny Clark has a delightful garden with extensive river frontage with both mature plantings and smaller, intimate areas. Teas and cakes will be available.
Needless to say as usual a wide range of other bulbs will be available.

As usual I will be hundreds of miles away on a family holiday .... But there will be a few folk selling tickets for the Norfolk Group one day Conference on September 8th. Bring your chequebook .... for the Conference and the snowdrops :)
Conference speakers are Harry Jans, Ian Young and Kit Strange who will cover Cultivation and Exploration to reflect the variety of talks we enjoy at our local AGS meetings.

Have you seen the weather forecast for East Anglia tomorrow? 30C :o and I couldnt stick 24C here today. Shorts and flip flops I think or budgie smugglers
-
Mark just hope that you do not have to explain the last comment
-
Has anyone heard from Luc S and Luc G?
-
Mark the reputed hottest place today was 32° - in Cavendish Suffolk :o Guess where the bulb sale is....

I have to say it felt like it today didn't it? Great to see so many forumists there today. I am pleased to report that there was a bulb of Galanthus Corrin being auctioned from David Quinton's collection and the lucky bidder was a member of the SRGC ;D ;D Well done you :)
-
It was pretty warm here in Aberdeen today. It was very stuffy at work today thought I doubt it was quite as hot as 34 degrees. I'm assuming the sale was outside ? Be a shame to miss "the" summer's day.
So nice to hear that the sale of David's bulbs went well. It will have been an extra excitement for a good day, I'm sure, because I always hear that those attending have a grand old time.
Just been thinking how incongruous Mark's avatar is, with him in scarf and hat in all this talk of heat!
-
It was soo hot I had to take off my hat and scarf

;D ;D Are you still in England, or did you go straight home? How was the new camera - I hope it didn't melt in that heat?

Thank goodness it was no hotter ;D

The official figure was 32°C and at Cavendish. The air temperature on the way there today, according to our car, hit 30ºC. More than hot enough thank you. It did pour with rain just after we arrived and the first picture is of people sheltering under one of the gazebos. The feet also attended - perhaps a new avatar?
-
Chris Brickell in shorts .... and Mark's feet.... dear me, perhaps as well I'm so far away.
-
A few more for you to savour Maggi!
Forum members and a few lurkers too. Also the auction and Arthur Nicholls looking aghast at the price paid for something or other and the Lucs enjoying, well, something or other and the Galanthus National Collection holder looking pleased at winning something or other. Personally I don't understand what all the fuss is about. I like vegetables!
-
Oh yes, I see lots of friends there - thank you David. Makes a nice change for the weather to be so hot for an outside event in the UK. Probably never happen again!

By the way, what made you think they were Mark's feet?
-
Just been thinking how incongrous Mark's new avatar is!
Shhhhh, don't wake him up Maggi!
-
And looking at the pics,Mark's hands were firmly placed in his pockets :D
-
Chas watch out for pick pockets in crowds :D
-
I thought that was the I've already spent tooooooooo much pose ;)

Don't you believe it Chas, he's as bad as me ;D
-
By the way, what made you think they were Mark's feet?
Good question..... you've struck me full of doubt now..... I just had a flashback to a photo from Susan Band from the Czech garden tours a few years ago..... something rang a bell! ::)

More pictures from the Sale.

Wish I'd been there :( Maybe in 2 years time, to bring more Iberian bulbs back to Iberia? :)
But I did meet Rob Potterton at a plant fair in July and the Rhodo and Daphnes I bought from him are well and thriving.

We did miss you Chloe ! ;)
Again it was worth "the hop" ;) !
