What a shame,stunning voice http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LsSS9VcMidA.I could listen to this all time.

They don't make singers like that anymore.  I wondered once if Amy Winehouse might have matured to a similar talent, but now we'll never know.

Maggie from what i have read Etta has a long battle with drugs as well.I agree Alberto she sung like an angel a on earth and brought alot of enjoyment my to my life
I do think you can hear her influence in Paloma Faiths sound.

You just can't beat the American songbook, yet another hit from Mack Gordon (born Morris Gittler -Polish) and Harry Warren (who incidentally was born Salvatore Antonio Guaragna -Italian).

In my view you can't beat the American songbook: Berlin, Porter, Green, Adair, Dennis, Gordon, Arlen, van Heusen, Warren, Gershwin, Rodgers, Hart, the great Sammy Cahn, Styne etc etc. Yup they don't make them like that these days......

Thanks, John. At least she achieved mass recognition with "At Last". There is a number of performances in YouTube.
