And here's a copy of the poster. At last count I understand we'll have Aberconwy & Choice Landscapes for a range of Alpines and bulbs plus two Snowdrop specialists. One is Felley Priory and the other a lady whose name I can't remember (that just proves I've not fallen victim to the Galanthropic virus!!!!!). Terrapot will supply 36cm shallow pans if you ask them nicely (for non showers that's the AGS max pot size).
As usual at these events any forum member who wants to poke around my garden and Alpine houses is welcome but remember to bring your wellies! Only a 10 yard walk from the hall.
-
I thought you would never get here Martin! :P
-
Well I wish we could get there, but Derby is a tad far from here.
Sad though that this is announced in the SRGC site and not mentioned on the AGS one.
-
Sorry but I can't keep up with a few threads here, It would be hard to manage time on the AGS Forum in addition, but I know Martin 'gets about' ;) :-X
-
Patience lads.........between work and a long weekend fiddling in the motherland I'm getting there. AGS forum is this morning's job before nasty work gets in the way again tomorrow......and it's already been advertised in the AGS newsletter thingy that came out with the most recent Alpine Gardener.

Another reminder that the Derby Group sale is only 8 days away. Great chance for folks who would normally attend the Loughborough non competitive display to come and have a chat after the depths of Winter darkness.
The Snowdrop seller I couldn't remeber in my previous post is Anita Thorpe.
And remember to bring your wellies if you want to see more of my garden than the safe view from the patio or don't mind getting your shoes mucky!
Hope to see some of you there

Anita and Andrew Thorp's plants
alone would make it worth going!
-
There are also a few good growers among the members at Derby who will be manning a members sales table.
-
Your good self amoung them Tony ;)

Is this what you are bringing for the display Tony? I might try to find a couple of pots to show how much better yours are ;)
-
Peter I am not sure that there is a plant Display as we are a bit tight for room, check with David on Wednesday.
-
Will do Tony.
-
Have a good day guys it's a bit too far for me.

Might see you at Harlow David?

That's a long stretch for me too Peter. At present, for family reasons, I'm driving just a little short of 30,000 miles a year so any time I get a week at home is "Strictly No Driving" ;D
-
:-X Dont blame you ;)

Last reminder for Sunday's sale. Remember there is no Loughborough non competitive display this year so this is your chance to get out and chat with fellow growers while the ground is still frozen solid.
The good news is the final arrival of cold weather means the squidgy bits of the garden are now solid (mostly), so a request to have a gawp will not result in overly mucky feet.
Hope to see some of you there.

Excellent news.... the wellies might not be needed but several extra pairs of warm socks will be...... ::)
Lucky folks attending the sale... a get together and a bit of plant based retail therapy .... just what the doctor ordered.
The more southern folks will be trotting off to Caerleon on the 18th while the Scots and northerners are heading to Dunblane. .... safe journey everyone... have a good day!
-
Is there any room for display plants Martin?
-
Don't know Peter. Suggest you give Dave Charlton a ring, his numbers on the poster at the beginning of this thread.
-
just tried, no answer. I expect he is in the greenhuse sitting on the heater!
are you setting up the room today?
-
No, 9 tomorrow morning
-
Thanks Martin.
-
Well, it's 10am, there's only about 5 inches of snow, all the Nursery folks are here setting up, the club members are doing a fantastic job clearing and gritting the car park, the kettle is boiling so no excuses...Come On Down.
And the village is looking very pretty under it's blanket of snow.
Back to work!
-
No snow at all here.
