Title: ilex aquifolium Hascombensis
Post by: John85 on December 06, 2011, 03:53:18 PM
It was recommanded by Caroll Baxter for the rock garden as it grows till 3' after a while. On the net:8' and even 5x3 m.
Can somebody who grows it tell me how tall it is after 10 years?

I think this holly would provide a problem like so many of the so-called "dwarf" conifers. Many of them are slow growing when young but will eventually make large trees. This holly grows quite slowly to begin with... I know several people recommend it for a pot or rock garden in its early years..... but I would not risk it myself.  In a pot it would be easier to control its growth but once a plant in in the soil it can be very hard to rein in its spread!

I would disagree with Carole's advice.  :-X :)
